3/4" Minus Paver Base Natural Gravel Roadbase - APWA Spec

Premium Base Material for Precise Applications

3/4" Minus Paver Base Natural Gravel Roadbase is a top-tier choice for creating a reliable subbase layer. Sized at 3/4" and smaller, this material is perfect for patios, pavers, driveways, and more. It meets APWA (American Public Works Association) specifications, ensuring it delivers the performance needed for both residential and commercial projects.

Key Features:

  • Composition: A blend of crushed natural stone, sand, and soils, offering a balanced mixture for superior compaction and stability.
  • Particle Size: Features particles 3/4” and smaller, including fines that help bind the larger rocks together to form a compact, durable base.
  • Meets APWA Specifications: Compliant with APWA standards, this roadbase is ideal for precise, professional-grade applications.

Benefits:

  • Excellent Compaction: The varied particle sizes, from coarse gravel to fine particles, ensure excellent compaction, making it ideal for patios, driveways, sidewalks, and other base-layer needs.
  • Versatile Uses: Suitable for subbase applications under pavers, flagstone, concrete, and asphalt, providing long-term stability and durability for any project.
  • Natural Composition: This product is made from all-natural sand and gravel, delivering a uniform, consistent roadbase that excels in performance.

Ideal Use Applications:

  • Subbase for Patios, Driveways & Walkways: Provides a strong foundation layer that supports a wide range of surface materials, such as pavers, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Roads & Parking Lots: A reliable material for use as a base layer under roads, parking lots, and construction sites.
  • Backfill: Perfect for trench backfilling or other areas that require a solid, well-compacted material.

Important Considerations:

  • Compaction Required: To achieve the best results, ensure proper compaction. Plan for a 1/4" reduction in depth per inch of material laid to account for compaction.
  • Surface Coverage: Without a top layer of asphalt or concrete, this material may be susceptible to moisture, which could cause the surface to become muddy.

Best Results:

For best results and to reduce weed growth, install base around 3" - 6" deep while compacting using a vibrating plate compactor and spraying with light amount of water while compacting. Typically you will see between 15% - 25% compaction when using a plate compactor. This compaction may require ordering additional material amount that standard coverages indicate.

  • Using a subgrade base material and properly compacting will help your project last going forward. This is especially important if you are installing a patio or concrete area, where sod or grass used to be as the soil there is not a well graded compactable material in most cases.
